Kyle Fowler had a lot of people’s eyes glued to him on Sunday afternoon at Peachstate Speedway (GA) in the World Crown 250.
He was recently crowned the Georgia Asphalt Series Rookie of the Year and then added to that by finishing fifth in the championship standings with five top-fives and 14 top-10s.
Things were looking good for Fowler, who started seventh on Sunday. He spent the first 125-laps just riding in the latter-half of the top-10. However, then came lap 133 and the World Crown’s version of “The Big One.”
“They had a crash in front of me,” said Fowler. “I saw it, got it slowed down and had a good, clean hole to get through, but everyone piled into me. That ended our day. That’s about it. It looked like somebody got into Taylor Satterfield, then everybody just sort of piled in from there. It’s too bad because we had a good car.”
It was a disappointing end to what could have been a great day for Fowler.
“We had a good starting position. We just rode around in the top-10 all day, just trying to get into position to be in the top five or even win the thing at the end. We had a great car. I’ve got to thank Doug Stephens, my dad and everybody for helping get this car together.
“We’ll work on it and hopefully get a good run down in Pensacola.”
Fowler will round up his ground-breaking 2007 season at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida with the Snowflake 100 on December 1.
