Kyle Fowler Impressive In First Snowflake 100 Event
15-Year-Old Racer Wheels Ill-Handling Car to Top-15 Finish
Going in the Snowflake 100 weekend at Five Flags Speedway (FL), 15-year-old Kyle Fowler and his crew had a bit of bad luck.  Troubles during testing and even a near wreck in the hauler on the way home after blowing out a tire had Fowler hoping the worst was behind him.  While he did experience an issue with the car during the race causing the car to be twitchy, Fowler used experience and true grit to wheel his car to a 14th-place finish in his first Snowflake 100.
“We had a pretty good run,” said Fowler.  “We would have liked to have run better but for my first Snowflake it’s not too bad.  I felt like the car was really good early on.”

Out of nearly 70 Pro Late Models attempting to get in the show, Fowler, in only his second time at Five Flags, put his car firmly in the field by qualifying seventh.

During the race, Fowler showed strength by running within the top five, but something happened to his car making him spend most of the race trying to save his car every lap as he was sliding sideways.

“It was hard to hang on to at times,” said Fowler.  “We had a problem midway through the race with the rear end.  Something was seizing up or broke and it felt like only the right rear was getting the power off the corners.  I think it was the rear end.  It’s a shame because I had just worked my way up to the top group of cars, and after that it made it hard to come off the corners, in particular off of turn four, like I wanted.”
While the 14th-place finish didn’t show how well Fowler ran, he was pleased with the progress he has made this year, all at the young age of 15.

“We had a lot of goals for this whole year and for this race too,” explained Fowler.  “We accomplished a lot of our goals in the GAS series and now we have done what we had to here.  First of all it was qualifying and making it in this race.  Then, in the race, it was just being able to keep up with the car in terms of making adjustments and learning.  A lot of it was a learning experience for me.  I brought home the car in one piece so that was good and we’ll go on and learn from this run we had today and apply it to next year.”

That concludes Kyle Fowler’s 2007 racing season.  Stay tuned for more information on his 2008 race schedule, coming soon.
