Streak Continues For Kyle Fowler With a Top-10 at Senoia
Young Driver Can't Be Stopped
Kyle Fowler was set to turn his Senoia Speedway Georgia Asphalt Series debut into a solid finish, and that is just what the young driver did. He started the race off in the eighth spot and quickly settled into a top-10 position. He raced a smart and clean 100-lap feature even with an ill-handling racecar, eventually crossing beneath the checkered flag ninth.
“Overall it was a pretty good weekend,” said Fowler. “We struggled with the car in practice and qualifying. It just did not want to turn. It just wouldn’t rotate through the center and off, so we qualified in the eighth position. We made a few adjustments to help the car turn and that helped it some, but as the race progressed the problem just got worse.
We started to experiment with different lines to find out what would suit the car best. We ran all the way down on the inside up against the wall. We were so close I could reach out and put a mark on it with a Sharpie. That helped the car and we picked up a few spots and starting moving toward the front.”
Unfortunately for Fowler, what might have been will never be known because bad luck found its way to him at the end of the race. This time, bad luck came in the form of another competitor.
“With 20 to go I made my final hard charge to get up to the front,” added Fowler. “With two to go I got into a
pretty good race with (Dakota) Stroup and we went side by side. But he got into me and the car drifted pretty close to the wall before I grabbed the throttle and just went. It was a little scary for like a tenth of a second but we were able to get a top-10 out of it.”
Fowler will be out to take another stab at victory in the Georgia Asphalt Series in his next event which comes May 12th at Peachstate Speedway in Jefferson, GA.
