Kyle Fowler was quiet, but strong, in Saturday’s Georgia Asphalt Series Hedman Husler 100 event at Peachstate Speedway (GA). Young Fowler was able to qualify up front in the top-10, and that is exactly where he stayed the entire night, bringing home a career best fourth-place finish in the Georgia Asphalt Series.
“That was the best finish of my Late Model career,” said Fowler. “We finished fourth, and we had to come up fro, seventh. There was a five-car breakaway and I was just trying to save some tires at the beginning of the race, and for the most part the race went completely green, except for one caution early.
“It was a real long race but I was just trying to stay where I was, stay clean and out of trouble. If we could have some more runs like that we might have a chance of winning one of these someday.”
What’s even more impressive about Fowler’s fourth place finish is the fact that he is a rookie. And all of the drivers that finished in front of him, have about the same amount of years of experience in Late Models as 14-year-old Fowler has in age.
“It feels great to be up here in fourth,” said Fowler. “I am excited that we got out of our ninth place streak there. Nothing is wrong with ninth, but fourth is a whole lot better. It is a great points night for us as well, I think that we will move up some and have a chance at going for the 2007 GAS Championship.”
