Kyle Fowler Brings Home Top-10 at Peachstate
Familiar Track and Series Prove to be No Problem for Young Driver
Kyle Fowler had hoped to set off some fireworks in the July 3rd Georgia Asphalt Series event at Peachstate Speedway. The 125-lap event featured live pit stops, which meant there were some new faces at the track helping him out. With the pit stop efforts put together by his team and the driving skills put forth by the talented young driver they were able to bring home a strong sixth-place finish.
“We had a blazing fast pit crew,” said Fowler. “This crew is made up of people who have helped us out all year this year and last year. They were from all over the place and we put them together for this race and it turned out to be a good combination. Everybody was really fast and we got out of here (pit lane) in a hurry.”
Fowler started 14th and was just outside the top-10 when he came in for the pit stop, but came out as the first car off pit road. Fowler restarted behind two cars that did not stop for fresh rubber and immediately went towards the lead before eventual winner Ryan Crane got by. As the laps dwindled down, Fowler lost a few positions, but the sixth-place run was still a momentum boost for the entire team.
“We definitely got all the car had tonight. We got everything that we could have and that does build our momentum. We were able to hold our own and we got all the car had. We were biding out time, saving our tires and just watching out for the crashes.”
“We were sitting there in second on that last restart and I thought we’d have a shot. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to get Crane or not, but I thought we could at least get second. But at that point, we had burned the tires off again, so we kind of got shuffled out again.”
